An Important Message For Parents:
Your Child's Safety Is Serious Business
And the right Martial Arts training can help make your child safe.
Northwest Martial Arts Of Salem, Oregon
Provides Training That Makes A Difference
A lot of Martial Arts schools claim they can teach your child to be safe through their training. You see pre-teens in their ads wearing black belts, looking disciplined and confident.
But how safe are they, really?
Being able to slam a good side kick into a striking pad is great for physical training and self-discipline. Translating that into personal safety is another matter.
And the truth is, no Martial Arts can really make anyone safe until the student learns how to do one essential thing: Adapt the art to one’s self.
Why? Because what worked for that kid in the ad will not necessarily work for your child. Conforming to someone else’s way of kicking and punching just doesn’t make much sense if your child is smaller, slower, bigger, rounder, skinnier, or less athletic.
What your child needs is something that works—no matter what. Because we’re not talking about theory here. We’re talking about your child’s personal safety!
And that takes a Self Defense system that any person can learn.
Is There Really A Martial Arts Style That :
Any Child Can Learn –
And That Works Against Any Kind Of Aggressor?
YES! "The Formless Way" (Wu Ying Tao)
Rather than trying to make your child conform to a Martial Art that may have worked for someone else, "The Formless Way" teaches your child to adapt the Martial Art to his or herself. Regardless of size, age, shape, or level of confidence.
Instead of becoming a "clone" of someone else by mastering what other martial artists have learned (which may or may not work for someone else), your child learns what does work for her or him, and makes it adapt, regardless of size, age, and shape. And as your child’s level of confidence soars, so does:
- Self Discipline
- Improved health and appearance
- Stronger sense of well-being
- Good manners
- A feeling of achievement Oh—and of course, personal safety.
You’ll be surprised when you see your child's potential come to life!

Daniel was always small for his age and felt like he was not very good at sports. He got good grades in school, though, and pretty much didn’t bother anyone. Then one day on his way to the bus, a couple of kids in his school cornered him and started calling him names. Before he could walk away, one of them knocked him to the ground. When he tried to get up, another boy kicked him. Shocked and confused, Daniel just sat there while they teased him and called him names. He didn’t know what to do.

Samantha was friendly and liked to help people. She spent a lot of time in her church helping with the nursery, and often went on errands to the store for her grandmother. One day while she was picking up a few things at the store for grandma, she noticed a man about her dad’s age looking at her from down the aisle. Samantha didn’t think much of it at first, but then she noticed wherever she went in the store, he seemed to follow from a distance. He kept staring at her unless she looked directly at him, and then he would suddenly look away. Samantha felt a chill go up her spine. Her parents had warned her about men like this. Her hands were shaking and her mouth went dry. Confused and afraid, Samantha didn’t know what to do.
